Knee Pain

Knee pain is a common complaint for patients presenting to our clinic. Knee pain can typically happen acutely as a result of trauma – such as fall or a sporting injury, or more gradually when we increase our activity levels. Our physiotherapist are very experienced both traumatic and gradual onsets of knee pain.


Common conditions that present traumatically: 

  • Ligament strain or tear – ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL

  • Patella dislocations

  • Meniscus tears

  • Fracture

  • Muscle tear – Quadriceps or Hamstring

Common conditions that present more gradually:

  • Patellofemoral pain

  • Iliotibial band (ITB) compression  

  • Tendinopathy / Tendinitis – Quads, patella or hamstring 

  • Osgood’s Schlatter’s disease

  • Sinding-Larsen-Johansson Syndrome

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Degenerative meniscus tears 

  • Bursitis 

  • Baker's cyst


Our physiotherapists will guide you through a structured rehabilitation program whether your knee pain was traumatic or gradual in onset. We will discuss ways you can manage your activities to help you avoid any significant increases in pain and get you back to doing the things you love. Typically treatments with involve some hands on therapy or other modalities for pain relief as well as a progressive exercise program.
